Radio Frequency microneedling
Medical Micro needling is a very popular procedure that can safely and effectively provide a whole host of skincare benefits. Medical Micro needling is a collagen induction treatment that harms the skin in a controlled way to trick it into forming collagen. So, what is RF Micro needling? First, the RF in “RF Micro needling” stands for “Radio Frequency” Micro needling. Radiofrequency Microneedling is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that enhances the effectiveness of microneedling together with the simultaneous delivery of radiofrequency. This treatment is great because it improves your skin tone and texture, in turn, will help with fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, and acne scarring. RF microneedling kick-starts the biological processes for the new creation of collagen and elastin as well as delivering radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis which further enhances skin tightening and scar reduction. The radiofrequency energy heats the underlying layers of your skin, resulting in both the constriction and tightening of your skin. Because RF energy reaches a deeper level than possible with just traditional standalone microneedling, it can produce faster, more dramatic results. This service is usually carried out with a specialist RF Microneedling device like the ONIX.
Is RF Microneedling better than Traditional Microneedling?
The simple answer is yes it is. Radio frequency (RF) micro-needling systems for tissue coagulation and hemostasis are designed to stimulate and remodel collagen and address the common signs of aging. It is ideally suited for use on patients who wish to revitalize and refresh the appearance of their skin on all skin types. By adjusting the micro-needles, they can deliver energy at various depths, so that treatments can be tailored to address each patient’s individual concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, photoaging and striae at the depth required. RF microneedling produces more dramatic results than traditional microneedling or standalone radiofrequency treatments because when you combine the two you get all the positives of both treatments, which ultimately boosts their effectiveness. Microneedling allows the precise application of radiofrequency energy into the dermis (the inner layer of the two main layers of your skin), where the cells reside that produce collagen. This means the radiofrequency energy increases the level of micro-injuries carried out by the microneedles, thereby stimulating increased cell turnover and rejuvenation.
Who is RF Microneedling
for?
Fortunately, RF microneedling is suitable for most skin types and tones and is perfect for those who are experiencing the following issues: Fine lines and facial wrinkles Scarring from conditions like acne and chickenpox etc Reduced skin elasticity Uneven skin texture Uneven skin tone Age spots It is important to note that for optimal effectiveness it is suggested to have 2 to 3 treatments, spaced out between four weeks apart for best results. That said, the number of treatments will ultimately depend upon how well you respond to the treatment, the severity of the skin issues that need addressing etc.
What happens during a typical RF Microneedling treatment?
After your skin has been cleansed a topical anaesthetic will be applied. Next, the microneedling device is then gently pressed against the treatment area(s) to create numerous, tiny, micro-injuries. Together with radiofrequency energy, the microneedling uses the added technology to apply RF energy into the dermis. The RF energy heats the dermis which further increases the body’s inflammatory response than normally possible with just microneedling which also, as a result, stimulates more of the collagen repair response too, encouraging collagen production which leads to younger-looking skin. When the skin is injured, our body sets into motion an automatic series of events often referred to as the “cascade of healing,” in order to repair the injured tissues. After the application has been completed, a calming treatment is usually applied and then it is fully complete. The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes or so.
What is the Recovery
Period Like?
There is 5 days downtime following an RF Microneedling treatment session. Most people are able to go back to work or normal everyday activities the very next day. While downtime is very minimal you should ensure that you are careful for the first few days after you get treatment. As there will likely be some redness and skin irritation, you will want to avoid applying too many products to your face as it could lead to further irritation. Furthermore, you should avoid applying any alcohol-based products or exfoliants and avoid direct sun exposure as well, which can be supported through the use of an appropriate SPF sun lotion or cream. And lastly, until your skin has fully healed, try to avoid any rigorous activity that will likely cause excessive sweating e.g. exercising or running.
